Baby, It’s Cold Outside

As Christmas approaches and the weather gets colder, it’s a perfect time to plan a fun Kid’s Christmas Pajama Day right in your home! It’s easy and I promise your little ones will have a blast.  The first and most important step is picking out holiday pajamas! Carter’s has a wide selection of holiday themed pajamas for girls and boys, that’s where I picked out ours. Below are just a few of my favorites- Carter’s also has an amazing pajama program that you can read more about, here.

Get a Little Messy

To kick off your Pajama party start with something you don’t normally do, this will get your little ones excited! We built (or tried to build) gingerbread houses and decorated them. We took the “easy” way out and used a pre-made cookie kit, but if your kids are a little older they may enjoy making the dough. I helped them put the houses together, but let them have free reign in decorating.  By the end we had a pile of cookies, frosting, and sprinkles that resembled anything but a gingerbread village. They loved every second of it!

Covered in frosting, we changed into our second set of Holiday Pajamas before starting our second activity.

Snack Time

Fruit is always a healthy treat, by adding fruit that is red and green it’s an instant holiday treat! We added in mini marshmallows and called them “snowballs.” Easy and nearly mess free (unlike making gingerbread houses!)

Count Down to Christmas

Is it even Christmas time without a paper countdown chain? Growing up my sisters and I always made them. I decided I wanted to pass down this little tradition to my kids. While Henry loved it, Vivian wasn’t interested until the chain got long enough for her play with. It’s easy and you likely have the supplies at home!

Wind Down

To round up our afternoon we read a few different kids holiday books (I highly recommend checking out your local library!) Nothing says ‘Merry Christmas’ more to any Mom than a little quiet time. Having the kids in their pajamas was a huge plus because they are comfortable and ready for nap time! Win/Win!
