10 Stylish Chandeliers that will Instantly Update Any Dining Room

Dining Room Chandeliers

Why Lighting is Important

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I think lighting is oft overlooked when designing, updating, or creating a room. It completely changes the look (good or bad) and the light it gives off can be seriously mood-changing. Ever stood under a florescent light and seen your reflection? Then you can get my point. Changing out that old light fixture for one of these beautiful chandeliers (all under $400!) below will have your dining room looking instantly updated!

I love looking at homes and when I see a new construction home with “basic lighting” its nice, but what really makes a home stand out and seem more custom and “grand” is when the lighting is unique and well thought-out. Those standard set of lighting tossed into the home, is just that, standard.

Picking the perfect light fixture

There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the right dining room chandelier:

    • Does it compliment the rest of the lighting in your home? Everything doesn’t have to be “matchy, matchy” nor do I like that look. Though they should compliment one another. Try to stay in the same hardware color- black, bronze, gold, brush nickel, silver etc.  this will give your lighting a cohesive look without looking “standard.”
    • Size matters. Going too big or too small can create an eyesore, here is a guide for the perfect sized light fixture for any room.
  • Plan on selling anytime soon? If so, updating your lighting is great for return on investment, but keep the light fixtures neutral to please the majority of buyers.
  • How much actual lighting are you looking to get? If you have recessed lighting and or amazing natural light, then maybe your chandelier is more esthetic. But, if your like me, my chandelier needs to give off a good amount of light. You typically want between 200-400 watts total in a chandelier in the average dining room.
